Market Research Report on Gas-fuelled Automobiles and Gas Filling Station in China  (2005)

Market Research Report on Gas-fuelled Automobiles and Gas Filling Station in China (2005)

Because technical policy of Policy on development of automobile industry, 2004 put more stress on energy conservation and environmental protection of vehicles, in addition to constant soar of oil price both at home and abroad in 2004, gas vehicle, a kind of vehicle which can replace oil energy and has excellent emission behavior, has once again become spotlight of China automobile industry. As a result, at the end of 2004, Dong Feng Automobile Co., Ltd signed a contract with Cummins, the largest environment-friendly engine manufacturer, and invested USD 20 millions to establish engine research centre in Wuhan city together. The aim is centered on developing natural gas engine and new generation environment-friendly diesel engine.
With rapid growth of the gas vehicles market, the number of the gas filling stations in domestic cities has been going up in these years. In the 5 years from 1999 to 2004, the number of gas filling stations in domestic cities has climbed to 712 from 130, increased by 448%, among which the number of LPG filling stations rise by 34.3% and that of CNG filling stations increased by 32.2%.
The development of gas filling stations in China's domestic cities has enjoyed big growth. However, compared with that in the developed countries, China still has a long way to go. To some extent, this problem is indicated in the following data: the total number of CNG and LPG filling stations in China is 712 in 2004, far behind Japan's 1,921 and America's 3,300.
