Introduction
With changes of international comparative advantages of main
countries, shipbuilding industry, as a labor-intensive,
technology-intensive and capital-intensive industry, has started
their industry transfer on global scale since the last century
and the pathway is: Europe -> Japan->South Korea->China. At the
end of 1970s, Japan finished the transfer of shipbuilding
industry from Europe; in terms of proportion of ship delivery
amount in the global figure, South Korea exceeded Europe in 1986
and then overtook Japan in 2002 and became the new leader in the
world shipbuilding industry; China's ship delivery amount
exceeded that of Europe in 2003 for the first time, ranking No.3
in the world shipbuilding industry. Proportion of China's ship
delivery amount in the global figure has been increasing
steadily, and climbed to 18.61% in 2007. Since 2000 growth rate
of China's shipbuilding industry has started to exceed that of
South Korea, Japan, Europe as well as the global figure.
In 2007 gross industrial output value of 1059 scale-above
shipbuilding enterprises was 256.3 billion Yuan, increasing by
53% year on year; export volume ship completed was 14.90 million
deadweight tons, increasing by 27% year on year, accounting for
79% of China's total export volume ship completed. Consequently,
China's output of shipbuilding plate in 2007 was 12.1583 million
tons, increasing by 86.6% year on year, nearly twice the figure
last year and 50 percentage points higher than the growth rate
last year.
In 2007 China's civil shipbuilding output exceeded 18 million
deadweight tons, new ship orders exceeded 70 million deadweight
tons and the total orders was over 130 million tons, increasing
by 25%, 70% and 90% year on year, respectively; and new ship
orders overtook South Korea and became the No.1 in the world.
Our report gave a thorough analysis on developing trend of
China's and world shipbuilding industry. The data all came from
National Bureau of Statistics of China, Commission of Science
Technology and Industry for National Defense and China Customs.
All the data were full and accurate and data by the end of 2007
was also presented here.
