Abstract
This report in-depth analyzes status, distribution and
characteristics of potassium resource abroad and home,
production, consumption, technological trend and export and
import of potassium fertilizer in China, as well as the economic
performance of potassium fertilizer industry. In the report all
data derive from the Ministry of Land and Resources, General
Administration of Customs, State Statistic Bureau, CPCIA and
other authorities.
This report can be used as authoritative reference in investment
and analysis of potassium fertilizer industry.
Limited by natural resource, potash works in China are mainly
concentrated in Qinghai Chaerhan district, Qinhai Salt Lake
Group Company is the largest producer of potassium fertilizer in
China, with annual capacity of 1.50 million tons in 2005.
Presently, there are about 50 enterprisers of K2SO4 with total
capacity of 0.60 million tons of K2O. All K2SO4 is transformed
from KCl. There is little output of KNO3 for agriculture
purpose. In term of production, in recent years, Chinese
government has increased investment on potassium fertilizer,
which results in growth of output. 70% of potash demand should
be met by import in China; therefore domestic price is decided
by world price and transportation fee.In 2006, port delivery
price of imported fertilizer for state owned enterprises is not
decided directly by central government, but is based on the
reference price of government. The upper floating rate is 3% and
there is no lower rate. For wholesale and retail price, the
regulation on price difference and maximum price still applies
the difference between factory price and retail price shouldn't
be more than 7%.
