Market Research Report On China's Copper Industry in 2006

(Published:Jan. 30th, 2007)

Introduction

This report in-depth analyzes copper reserve in China and abroad, its exploitation, production, market, sales of main enterprises, foresee of demand for refined copper, as well as the economic performance of copper mining and smelting industry. In the report all data derive from the Ministry of Land and Resources, General Administration of Customs, State Statistic Bureau, China Reform and Development Ministry and other authorities, the report can be used as authoritative reference in investment and analysis of copper industry and market.

According to statistics from National Bureau of Statistic of China, China's output of copper in 2006 is shown as follows:

At present the total scale of the known copper refinery projects which are under construction and are planned to be constructed exceeds 2.5 million tons. The total production capacity which has just been put into production this year and which are to be put into production next year reaches 1.5 million tons. According to the average growth rate of China's consumption of copper in recent years, total consumption of copper this year is expected to be 3.8 million tons (including sale volume of State Reserve Bureau and reduced amount in consumers' stock). If we assume that consumption of copper growth rate in 2007 is 8%, demand for copper in China in 2007 will increase by 0.3 million tons
