 Abstract
China has rich coal resources and are relative shortage of oil. In order to effectively utilize the valuable oil resources, and to reduce the unreasonable consumption of oil in industry and life, coal replacing oil is China¨s basic energy policy.
Coal water slurry (CWS) is a novel coal-based fluid fuel, which is comprised of 65%-70% pulverized coal, 30%-35% water and 1%-2% additive and physically processed. It can be easily loaded, stored nd pipeline transported just like gas. It can also be atomization and direct combustion. It has the advantages of cheap price, stable combustion, high combustion efficiency, low emissions and environmental protection benefits. Experts believe that the dominant characteristic of CWS heating is environmental protection. If the industrial boiler was feed CWS to replace coal, when burn 10 million tons of CWS, it can reduce 110,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emission and 2.2 million tons of carbon dioxide. Therefore, the CWS technology can not only replace oil but also replace coal for energy saving and environmental protection. It is an ideal fuel, can be widely used in industrial boilers, civil boilers, industrial and power plant furnaces, with a broad market prospect.
CWS came from world energy crisis in 1970s. At that time, countries in the world clearly realized that oil and gas as clean energy is not inexhaustible, while the coal is a long-term reliable energy. However, the lesson of traditional coal burning pollution cannot be neglected. Therefore, the liquefied, vaporization of coal is a vital research subject in industrial countries. The CWS technology is the best achievement of liquefied coal and also the cheapest way of clean coal utilization.
Chinese government has introduced many polices to support and encourage CWS development. In ＾National Energy Saving and Comprehensive Utilization￣ in ＾10th Five-Year Plan￣, the CWS producing equipments and application integration technology is included as key technology promotion program in the future in China. According to Chinese ＾Foreign Invest Industry Guide Contents￣ issued in 2005, CWS technology development and application is encouraged by Chinese government.
